“The Gulf of Georgia Cannery commemorates the history of the West Coast fishing industry. Exhibits, displays artifacts and machinery, give visitors a sense of how the cannery must have looked and sounded during its years of operation. Guided tours allow visitors experience the salmon canning line or to see some of the massive machinery which was used in herring reduction. Other exhibits can be viewed in a self- guided tour.
Visitors will also enjoy seeing a 20 minute film ” A Journey Through Time” which is shown continually most days. The film gives a glimpse of the history of the Cannery.
While we do advertise this facility as one of Richmond’s heritage assets, this historic site is a federally owned facility operated by The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society. ”
